Day-to-day Itinerary - 12 Days
Day 01 Shanghai
Arrive in Shanghai, the largest and most cosmopolitan city, as modern as any in the world. You are greeted on arrival and escorted to downtown hotel for 2 nights well located in a prime setting near many popular shops and restaurants. Balance of the day at your leisure.
Day 02 Shanghai (B L D)
Full-day tour presents Shanghai's unique nature, from the river front Bund where foreign traders left a legacy of European- style buildings, to the Yuyuan Gardens with its quintessential. Sightseeing also includes Jade Buddha Temple, the Pudong New Development zone and Shanghai TV Tower (Pearl of the Orient). You may choose to take the elevator to the top for a bird-eye view of the city and its beautiful skyline. (Extra admission required for this). Tonight, enjoy a world famous Shanghai Acrobatic Show following dinner.
Day 03 Shanghai / Suzhou (B L D)
Check out and transfer to Shanghai Railway Station. Depart Shanghai for Suzhou by express train (1 hour). Upon arrival in Suzhou, meet / transfer by local guide to check into local hotel for overnight with breakfast.
Full-day sightseeing: Garden of Master Nets, Grand Canal (with a ride), Silk Factory and Tiger Hill. Tonight, enjoy a traditional dance and music show at Garden of Master Nets.
Day 04 Suzhou / Wuxi (B, L, D)
Check out and proceed to Wuxi by coach or express train. Check into local hotel in Wuxi for overnight with breakfast.
Sightseeing in Wuxi today includes the Lake Tai (a ride), Li Yuan Garden and Huishan Clay Figure Workshop.
Day 05 Wuxi / Shanghai / Guilin (B L)
Return to Shanghai by express train in the morning and depart Shanghai by flight to Guilin. Upon arrival, local CITS meet / transfer to downtown hotel in Guilin for 2 nights with daily breakfast.
Afternoon tour: Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill and other sights.
Day 06 Guilin / Li River / Guilin (B, L)
Few could fail to be enraptured by the beauty of the Li River, with its delicate karst formations, beautiful rural scenery, and lush green hillsides with bizarre rock formations and caves. Centuries of poets and artists have immortalized the very scenes you'll savor on a full-day air-conditioned cruise along this unique and tranquil waterway. At end of the cruise, take a short tour in Yangshuo before your guide drives you back to Guilin and back to your hotel.
Day 07 Guilin / Xian (B, L)
Transfer to airport and depart Guilin by flight for Xi'an, a vital center of history, culture and archaeology. Upon arrival, meet / transfer by your local guide to well-located hotel for 2 nights with daily breakfast.
Afternoon tour in Xian: Bell Tower / City Wall and Muslim quarters and Great Mosque.
Day 08 XIAN (B, L, D)
It is impossible to overstate Xi'an's importance in China's history. Here began the fabled Silk Road, here a string of dynasties made their capital, here a Neolithic culture built a village 6000 years ago, and here lies a highlight of your trip: the excavation site of 8000 terra cotta soldiers, buried around the tomb of Emperor Qin, builder of the Great Wall and other massive endeavors.Sightseeing also includes the Wild Goose Pagoda, the landmark of Xian, plus the Shaanxi Provincial Museum.
Tonight, enjoy a special Tang Dynasty dinner show featuring the long history of Xian.
Day 09 Xi'an / Beijing (B, L)
Transfer to Xian Airport for your flight to Beijing, the capital and cultural center of China, where virtually every boulevard and building exudes an air of importance. Upon arrival in Beijing, meet / transfer by your local guide to the downtown hotel for 3 nights with daily breakfast. Balance of the day at your leisure.
Day 10 Beijing (B L)
Enjoy a full-day tour of the sights that make Beijing a spectacular destination: the sprawling Forbidden City, home to 24 Ming and Qing emperors and now a repository of precious art and antiques; the Temple of Heaven, famous for its elegance and symmetry; and the Summer Palace, an oasis of tea gardens, pavilions, painted corridors, and shimmering Kunming Lake with Empress Dowager's eccentric marble ship.
Day 11 Beijing (B L D)
One of the world's most awe-inspiring sights, the Great Wall snakes along nearly 4000 miles of impossibly steep hills and harsh, rugged plains. Today's excursion will give you ample time to explore it in leisure and marvel at the manpower that went into building the world's longest structure entirely by hand. Continue to the Ming Tombs, the graveyard of 13 emperors, before returning to Beijing for an imperial-style Peking Duck dinner. Time permitting, you will also tour the 2008 Beijing Olympics venues (Bird Nest and Water Cube).
Day 12 Beijing (B)
Check out and transfer to Beijing Airport. Depart Beijing for home and bid China a fond farewell. End of your China experience.
