ay 01 Shanghai
Arrive in Shanghai, the largest and most cosmopolitan city, as modern as any in the world. You are greeted on arrival and escorted to downtown hotel for 2 nights well located in a prime setting near many popular shops and restaurants. Balance of the day at your leisure.
Day 02 Shanghai (B L D)
Full-day tour presents Shanghai's unique nature, from the river front Bund where foreign traders left a legacy of European- style buildings, to the Yuyuan Gardens with its quintessential. Sightseeing also includes Jade Buddha Temple, the Pudong New Development zone and Shanghai TV Tower (Pearl of the Orient). You may choose to take the elevator to the top for a bird-eye view of the city and its beautiful skyline. (Extra admission required for this). Tonight, enjoy a world famous Shanghai Acrobatic Show following dinner.
Day 03 Shanghai / Wuxi (B L)
Check out and transfer to Shanghai Railway Station. Depart Shanghai by express train (1.5 hours) to Wuxi, a large city of Jiangsu Province, as well as "hometown of fish and rice" by Lake Tai. Upon arrival, meet / transfer by local guide for sightseeing that includes a boat ride on the lake, tour of Li Yuan Garden and Huishan Clay Figure Workshop. Check into local 4-star hotel for one night with breakfast.
Day 04 Wuxi / Suzhou (B L D)
Morning tour in Wuxi again before taking express train (40 minutes) to Suzhou. Upon arrival, meet / transfer by local tour guide for full-day sightseeing that includes a short cruise on Grand Canal, still a vibrant trade route after 1300 years of use. Check into Bamboo Grove Hotel Suzhou for overnight with breakfast. Tonight, enjoy a special evening at the Garden of the Master of Nets. Walk the lantern-lit paths with surprises at every turn, accompanied by live classical music.
Day 05 Suzhou / Shanghai / Xian (B L)
Packed with gardens, pagodas, temples, lively shops and street scenes, Suzhou is a pleasure to explore, as you'll do on this morning's tour. Step into small, harmonious gardens designed with rock, water, trees and showy vegetation, then shop for local artisans' prized silks at the Embroidery Institute. After your tour, transfer to Suzhou Railway Station for a short train ride to Shanghai. Upon arrival, your guide meet / transfer to Shanghai Airpport for your flight Shanghai - Xian, a vital center of history, culture and archaeology. Upon arrival, meet / transfer by your local guide to well-located hotel for 2 nights with daily breakfast.
Afternoon tour in Xian: Bell Tower / City Wall and Muslim quarters and Great Mosque.
Day 06 XIAN (B, L, D)
It is impossible to overstate Xi'an's importance in China's history. Here began the fabled Silk Road, here a string of dynasties made their capital, here a Neolithic culture built a village 6000 years ago, and here lies a highlight of your trip: the excavation site of 8000 terra cotta soldiers, buried around the tomb of Emperor Qin, builder of the Great Wall and other massive endeavors.Sightseeing also includes the Wild Goose Pagoda, the landmark of Xian, plus the Shaanxi Provincial Museum.
Tonight, enjoy a special Tang Dynasty dinner show featuring the long history of Xian.
Day 07 Xi'an / Beijing (B, L)
Transfer to Xian Airport for your flight to Beijing, the capital and cultural center of China, where virtually every boulevard and building exudes an air of importance. Upon arrival in Beijing, meet / transfer by your local guide to the downtown hotel for 3 nights with daily breakfast. Balance of the day at your leisure.
Day 08 Beijing (B L)
Enjoy a full-day tour of the sights that make Beijing a spectacular destination: the sprawling Forbidden City, home to 24 Ming and Qing emperors and now a repository of precious art and antiques; the Temple of Heaven, famous for its elegance and symmetry; and the Summer Palace, an oasis of tea gardens, pavilions, painted corridors, and shimmering Kunming Lake with Empress Dowager's eccentric marble ship.
Day 09 Beijing (B L D)
One of the world's most awe-inspiring sights, the Great Wall snakes along nearly 4000 miles of impossibly steep hills and harsh, rugged plains. Today's excursion will give you ample time to explore it in leisure and marvel at the manpower that went into building the world's longest structure entirely by hand. Continue to the Ming Tombs, the graveyard of 13 emperors, before returning to Beijing for an imperial-style Peking Duck dinner. Time permitting, you will also tour the 2008 Beijing Olympics venues (Bird Nest and Water Cube).
Day 10 Beijing (B)
Check out and transfer to Beijing Airport. Depart Beijing for home and bid China a fond farewell. End of your China experience.
